The ASU Global Village Residential Community is a multicultural housing option for more than 100 students from all over the United States and the world. The Global Village’s mission is threefold: to maintain a welcoming community for exchange students from around the world, while introducing them to the American university experience; to enhance the intellectual and social growth of ASU student residents in order to prepare them to engage the world as global citizens; and to encourage a higher level of global awareness in the larger ASU community by sponsoring cultural programming.

Residents of the Global Village will enjoy the benefit of living in a safe, convenient campus environment, as well as the opportunity to connect with their peers through both structured and informal interaction.

Programs

Activities which may be available to Global Village residents include:

  • Organized social events both on and off-campus including sporting (ASU football, Phoenix Suns Basketball) and cultural events (Broadway plays at Gammage, Live music and festivals at Tempe Town Lake).
  • Opportunities to attend ice cream socials, movie nights, weekend BBQs, or pizza nights within the Global Village.
  • Educational events including workshops on academic success at ASU and career guidance on competing in the global job market, or applying to U.S. graduate schools.
  • Guest speakers on culturally relevant topics and opportunities to host presentations on world cultures.

Eligibility

  • All incoming ASU international exchange students.
  • ASU degree-seeking students who:
    • Have a strong interest in cross-cultural experiences.
    • Have been accepted to ASU.
    • Have applied for ASU University Housing.
    • Are sophomore standing or above (including non-traditional freshmen).

How to Apply (ASU Students)

  1. Complete the Arizona State University's Housing Application. Indicate on your University Housing Application a preference for the community, "Global Village Residential Community."
     
  2. Download and complete the ASU “Global Village Residential Community” application and submit it to the ASU Study Abroad Office (address below).

How to Apply (for ASU Incoming International Exchange Students)

  1. Download and complete the ASU “Global Village Residential Community” application and submit it to your home institution with your exchange application. If you have already been accepted to ASU, please download and send the completed Global Village application directly to the ASU Study Abroad Office (address below).
     
  2. Once you’ve received your official acceptance packet from the ASU Study Abroad Office, complete the Arizona State University's Housing Application. Indicate on your University Housing Application a preference for the community, "Global Village Residential Community."

IMPORTANT NOTE: ASU Global can only accept applications from students whose housing application is on file with ASU's University Housing Office. Before submitting a Residential Community application, please submit your ASU University Housing application.
