ASU-Sichuan University partnership designing future of higher education

ASU’s partnership with China’s Sichuan University continues to expand. The most recent manifestation was a visit, Aug. 4 through 6, by Jian Shi, Sichuan University’s vice president for global engagement, and Shijing Yan, the director of Sichuan’s Office of International Affairs. Unfortunately, bad weather grounded Shi in Chicago. Yan made it to Arizona for a series of meetings at ASU, which Shi joined by teleconference.

Over the past years ASU has successfully built a solid relationship with Sichuan University and has begun to build programs as well as faculty exchanges. Several ASU faculty, schools, and administrators are committed to building the ASU-Sichuan University partnership through the creation of programs and support of exchanges. In the coming year efforts must be focused particularly on ensuring these newly created programs take root and that sufficient support systems for student and faculty exchange and expanded collaborative work are established.
