Office Of The Vice President
Building relationships around the world
ASU research, teaching, and service have global implications. ASU faculty are part of an international community of scholars, and their scholarship and creative endeavors address a global audience. ASU students come from many different countries, and their culture and experiences enrich the university. Local service opportunities can also have bearing worldwide. Through the development of innovative approaches to universal societal problems, ASU can establish programs and practices with global application. The Office of the Vice President for Global Engagement (OVPGE) leads ASU in advancing globally by establishing and maintaining strong relationships; supporting globally focused programs of study, research and student mobility; and creating international strategic partnerships with key institutions around the world.
What Global Engagement is to ASU
Learning, research and scholarship at ASU know no geographical borders.
In a world in which communication and business are global in nature, and issues and opportunities are global in scope, the New American University becomes increasingly international. Indeed, much of ASU’s research, teaching and community engagement have global applications.
To bring focus and energy to ASU’s efforts to establish and benefit from a global presence, the university established the Office of the Vice President for Global Engagement (link) in 2006.
Anthony "Bud" Rock was appointed as vice president to lead the new office. He is a former senior U.S. Department of State official and brings to ASU a wealth of experience from diplomatic assignments abroad and in Washington, D.C.
The new Office of the Vice President for Global Engagement:

- Oversees the Policy and Strategic Partnerships Office.
- Works in cooperation with the university provost, deans and members of the faculty to advance global projects and exchanges
